2009-2010 Housing Assignment Process

Villages Assignment Process

The Villages are located just on the outskirts of campus.  Village placements are the first step in the Housing Assignment Process.

The Villages are reserved primarily for upper-class students with 60+credit hours.  In order to apply to live in the Villages, each person in your group needs to have a minimum of 44 credit hours on file with the University by the end of Fall '08.  Village
assignments are prioritized based on the combined earned credit hours as a group and the need to fill all available village housing.

Please read all housing assignment materials including your Housing and Food Service contract before signing up for a Village unit or room in the Residence Halls.

The Village housing process gives upper-class students a variety of opportunities to live in the Villages.  Please keep in mind that the majority of our Village units are for 2 and 4 person occupancy; however, there are units for 3, 5, or 6 person occupancy available.

For information about Village Parking and Internet, see the Villages Web site.

Village Assignment Process

1.  Village Request Cards Available:  Monday, March 9 – March 13

Get a group together that each have the required 44 credit hours needed to apply to live in the Villages.  Pick up Village request cards from the Residence Life Office between March 9 - March 13.

2.  Village Request Cards Due:  Friday, March 13

Completely fill out and turn in your Village request card to the Residence Life Office by 5pm on Friday, March 13.  Late requests will not be accepted.  After the Village request cards are turned in, we will review all requests and verify all credit hours accumulated up to the end of the fall 2008 semester.

Note: fill out a variety of occupancy configurations.  Do not “put all your eggs in one basket.”  Example: a group filling out a card for a 4-person apartment/house should also fill out two 2-person cards.  If they do not receive the 4-person spot, they still have an opportunity to receive a 2-person spot.

Assignments are prioritized based on the combined earned credit hours as a group and the need to fill all available village housing.

3.  Village Occupancy Assignments EMAILED:
Wednesday, March 18

Village Occupancy Assignments will be EMAILED to those who are awarded a village unit on March 18th by 5pm.

4.  Students select Village placement based on occupancy assignments:  March 19 - 20

Based on your occupancy assignment and your appointment time, your group will be able to select your house/apartment for next year.  You will need to bring everyone’s student ID.  Each person must also have submitted their online housing contract by March 13th.  Each person signing up for the Villages will also sign a Village Assignment Supplemental Agreements.  Please come to your selection appointment on time.  (appointments will be EMAILED on March 18th).  If you miss your appointment, we will go to the next group on the list.

Village Assignment Supplemental Agreement

By accepting a Village assignment, signing your contract and the Village Assignment Supplemental Agreement, you understand and agree that should a vacancy occur in your unit, you either:

  1. Replace vacancies with a student of equal or higher class standing.

  2. Pay a unit vacancy fee set by the Office of Residence Life
