Hall Council Positions

A wonderful opportunity exists in the Residence Halls for students to become directly involved in their living environment! These positions are elected at the beginning of each semester. Click on the positions below for more information.

Hall President

An elected position.
Provides leadership and assistance to members of Hall Council.
Each Hall their own individual constitution that outlines the organization and governance of their Hall Council. While positions may differ, the President is responsible for filling all positions listed by their constitution as well as required positions as outlined under the RSA Constitution. Some of the more common position include:

Food Advisory Board (FAB) Representatives

An Area Assessment Representative

Floor representatives

RA Representatives

Attends meetings as scheduled with the RSA President
Verifies attendance of Council Reps at meetings (Presidents are not allowed to attend meetings as a proxy)
Keeps in contact with Residential Coordinator / Head Resident and Hall executive board
Solicits appropriate assistance from RSA
During Hall Council Meetings, facilitates reports from RSA General Assembly, Student Congress, FAB; and on programming, finance and topics and issues that need to be voted on.

Vice-President

An Elected Position
Attends all Hall Council Meetings
Assists the President as needed
Helps with programming and publicity
If the hall chooses to get T-shirts, assists in ordering, money collection and the distribution of the shirts.

Treasurer

An Elected Position
Attends all hall council meetings
Keeps track of the hall council budget
Reports to the hall council about status of budget
Attends meetings with the RSA Treasurer
Completes all of the check requisitions and petty cash forms

Secretary

An Elected Position
Attends all hall council meetings
Takes attendance at all meetings
Takes down minutes at all meetings
Types up minutes
Turns the Minutes unto the RSA secretary weekly via email

Student Congress Representatives

Appointed/selected from within each residence hall
2-positions available
Attends all hall council meetings
Attends all meetings Thursdays at 5 in Union 200
Takes down all information during Student Congress meetings and reports to the hall council what happened during the meetings
Votes in favor of what is best for your hall
Sits on a committee

Food Advisory Board Representative

Appointed/selected from within each residence hall
Attends all hall council meetings
Attends all FAB meetings
Reports food concerns from hall to FAB
Takes down all information during FAB meetings and reports to the hall council what happened during the meetings

Area Assessments Committee Representative

Appointed/selected from within each residence hall
Attends all hall council meetings
Brings concerns from the hall to the attention of the area assessment committee
Attends Area assessment meetings

Resident Students Association Representatives - General Assembly

Appointed/selected from within each residence hall
2-positions available per Hall
Attends all hall council meetings
Attends all RSA General Assembly meetings Mondays at 9 pm in Union 200
Records all information during RSA meetings and reports to the hall council what happened during the meetings
Reports to RSA what happened in their hall meetings
Required to be on an RSA committee

Sits on a hall committee
